Hello! My name is Ahan, and I do a bunch of different things. These are generally united by my background in philosophy, and my interest in the cultivation of the democratic, open society. I'm an educator, teaching writing, English, math, and the social sciences on the K-12 level, including as a co-founder of WonPrep. I have research interests in pragmatism, logical positivism, Wittgenstein, what we might call the 'anti-theory' tradition in ethics and meta-ethics, as well as in the applications of these theoretical topics to political and legal thinking. I also seek to write and think in the public sphere, which I have so far done mainly for the Harper Review and on my Substack, Ahan's First Drafts. I also edit the Graduate Student Reflection Series of the blog of the American Philosophical Association, particularly seeking to curate contributions from those with unorthodox routes to philosophy, or who deploy philosophy in conjunction with seemingly more 'applied' fields. I see my engagement with teaching, writing, speaking, business, research, social/public life, and art as being more or less contiguous, as part of the same project and the same way of life.
The root of my worldview is what I like to call Socratist-Pragmatism, or what Richard Rorty called ironism.Â
